Automation of a highly variable process

We created a robotic workcell for loading inserts in the moulding process for different sizes of handles. A true “tailor-made” solution that features a robot equipped with 3 types of grippers, specially designed and manufactured with the most advanced technology available on the market, a gripper magazine and an automated tool changer for flexibly managing 4 different types of moulds, 4 types of handles and 20 types of inserts, with a special rotary feeder to handle loading.

The biggest challenge was to automate a highly variable process without sacrificing productivity, efficiency and quality.

The results achieved have not only met the customer’s requirements, they have exceeded them: compared to the previous manual process, we have achieved a significant decrease in cycle times, a considerable reduction in rejected parts and a marked improvement in the quality of the finished products, especially in terms of repeatability. And this is all combined with a high level of efficiency in the flexible and automated management of any production changes.

The workcell was entirely designed and manufactured by MR Robotica and was the result of an outstanding partnership with the customer.
